Conformable Labels

Conformable Labels Some items you can pour out of a container, but some things you have to squeeze out. Before the development of conformable labels in the 1980s, labels on squeezable product containers -- like condiment bottles and beauty/health product tubes -- had a tendency to detach, wrinkle, and crease. This limited their utility, but the only option was to print the product information directly on the container, which could be prohibitively expensive.

When squeezable labels hit the market, things got a lot easier for manufacturers and consumers alike. Nowadays, conformable, squeezable labels can be found on ketchup bottles, mustard bottles, toothpaste and hair gel tubes, suntan lotion bottles, and much more -- anything you have to squeeze to get the product out. Good conformable labels don't gap, split, wrinkle, or crease, and they don't peel off unless you peel them off.

Traditionally, conformable labels have been manufactured from polyethylene film. Polyethylene is sufficiently deformable to make excellent squeezable labels, but it does have a tendency to become hazy. Recently, other squeezables have been manufactured from a plastic called biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP). Originally, BOPP made for excellent labels on rigid items, but was too stiff for the squeezable variety; however, recent technological developments have produced bendable versions of BOPP. Polyolefin plastic is also a popular facestock for squeezable labels.

Etiquette Systems can provide you with all the conformable labels you require in a variety of materials, using several different printing methods. Whether you need to label chocolate syrup bottles or hand lotion tubes, we invite you to contact us today for a free quote.
