When you put a label on something, you usually want it to stay there -- and there are situations in which it´s necessary to know when someone's tried to remove it. This is where security labels and seals come in handy. Security seals offer a dependable method of rendering something tamperproof, whether it's your secret diary or a proprietary circuit board.
Although security seals may be used for tasks as simple as sealing an electrical meter between inspections, they´re especially useful when it comes to branding and asset tracking. Good security labels and seals guarantee authenticity by means of a variety of ingenious features, from scoring that rips the label apart during removal to a backing that leaves the word "void" printed repeatedly across the label, and often the surface it was affixed to. A good example of this type of security seal is a state automobile inspection sticker. Anyone who's tried to peel off on old one knows how annoying these security seals can be -- but they're an effective deterrent against theft or illegal transfer.
Some security labels and seals are made of destructible vinyl, which has a tendency to stretch and rip rather than peel. The result is a ruined security label that comes to pieces if you try to remove it. So if you put one of these labels in the wrong place and have to remove it, say goodbye to that label. If you think it´s a pain for you, imagine how annoying it will be for anyone who tries to remove it illicitly!
