Zebra Ribbon
Zebra Technology manufactures some of the best and best-known thermal transfer labeling products in the industry. In fact, they can boast that some 90% of all Fortune 500 companies use Zebra printer ribbons and related Zebra products, an impressive number indeed. Etiquette Systems can supply all varieties of Zebra ribbons, include the full wax, wax/resin, and resin types.
Like all thermal transfer ribbons, a Zebra ribbon transfers ink to a label when a heated print-head presses it against the feedstock. The result is a crisp image with much greater durability than those produced by other labeling methods. The least expensive (and least durable) type of Zebra printer ribbon is coated with a wax-based formulation, which melts at a relatively low temperature. This kind of ribbon works with a wide range of labeling media, ranging from rough, low-end paper to low-end synthetics. Full resin Zebra ribbons, at the other end of the spectrum, produce extremely durable text and images at a correspondingly higher price, and are suitable for use only with smooth-surfaced, top-quality synthetic materials. Wax/resin Zebra printer ribbons, which use a mixed formulation, fall in the middle of the range in terms of cost, durability, and the require label stocks.
Like most thermal transfer ribbons, Zebra ribbons produce label images that are resistant to abrasion, scratching, and chemical and physical shock. They´re ideal for use in asset tracking and inventory control processes, especially in harsh environments, and are particularly applicable to outdoor uses and for environments in which temperature extremes are common. This makes them appropriate for use with chemical drums, automobile parts, and electronics labels, among other things.
