Full Resin Ribbons
Full resin ribbons are the most expensive of the three types of thermal transfer ribbons. Resin ribbons are less versatile but significantly more durable than the other types, formulated as they are for challenging labeling conditions. Full wax and wax/resin ribbons have their places, but if you´re looking for a labeling solution that will stand up to the elements and just about any manmade conditions you can throw at it, you need full resin ribbons.
As the name suggests, the ink formulation coating full resin ribbons is prepared only with resin materials, with no wax admixture at all. This means that the pins in the thermal transfer print-head have to be heated to a higher temperature before they will melt the coating on a resin ribbon and transfer the ink to the feedstock. Another standard requirement is that the printing surface must be smooth, which leaves out most untreated papers. In fact, resin ribbons are intended for use with tough synthetic materials and other high end label stocks. When the proper high quality feedstock is used, the result is a sharp image that´s extremely resistant to scratching, mechanical abrasion, heat and chemicals.
Our resin ribbons are geared for use in those situations in which durability is especially important, and we can guarantee that they won´t let you down.
Among other things, we recommend resin ribbons for purposes such as:
- UL/CSA labeling
- Drum labels
- Outdoor applications
- Shelf labels
- High heat applications
- Automotive labeling
